The Bachelor
Last night at exactly 7:00 I quickly turned the channel to ABC to watch the season premiere of The Bachelor eager to watch the drama unfold. The Bachelor which is a reality show in which 25 women go on dates with one guy, go on dates, and fight for his love amongst the other girls. Already from the description the show probably sounds cheesy...and it is, but I decided to tune in, and watch for two reasons. The first being that the bachelor Chris is a farmer from my home state of Iowa, and also, because there are so many woman fighting for one guy there is ton of drama.
While watching the show I began to wonder many things. The first thing is can someone find "true" love from 25 women from all over the world. I mean sure you can like them, and think you want to be with them, but do they really want to. Over the course of The Bachelor they travel to beautiful, exotic places, and go on fancy dates, but what happens when it goes back to normal. What will happen when the cameras are off, and they're back on his farm in Iowa, or wherever she lives? Would they be willing to sacrifice their jobs, friends, and family to move across the country to live with their husband/wife. All of these things have come into play during the show, and are reasons why some have broken up. Yes, some couples have worked out, and still are married, but the majority did not.
The next thing I thought about while watching the premiere was how many of these girls are picked, because they're crazy, obsessive, dramatic, and will add more drama to the show. Last night there was this girl on the show, and I'm not quite sure what her name was, but she spent the whole night talking about an onion that turned out to be a pomegranate? I'm not really sure what was going on, but he kept her on. I mean maybe there was more to her that the camera didn't show, but it made me wonder if they kept her on the show for the craziness that could possibly unfold. Either way I will definitely be interesting to see how she unfolds during the season.
