Dance Moms

Finally, Dance Moms is back! One of my favorite reality shows Dance Moms aired it's season five premiere on Tuesday of last week on Lifetime. To be honest I did not know that it was going to return when it did so when I heard the news a couple days before I was so excited, and could hardly contain myself, and could not wait for Tuesday...well, actually Wednesday, because by the time I get home from practice it's too late.

Anyways, Dance Moms kicked off with a one hour premiere, and there were a few changes I noticed. The first, Chloe was not there. I heard rumors that she had quit the show, but I was hoping that they were not true. Chloe has been my favorite since the beginning of the show, and now that she's gone I'm not sure if I'll keep watching. Another thing is that Kalani came back onto the show, and I was actually happy, because I knew that her mother would add drama to the show with the whole Maddie vs. Kalani situation. The last thing that I noticed was that Abby lost weight.

Watching the show it just didn't feel the same, and this season I began to realize how repetitive the show really is. At least once an episode Abby gets yelled at by a mom for treating her kid unfairly in some way, there is always something wrong with the group dance, and Maddie either gets a solo or a special part in the group dance which upsets the mom.

Watching the show I began to wonder why the moms stay, and after all of Abby's complaining she hasn't kicked them off the team. Episode after episode mothers complain how rude Abby is to the kids, and how unfairly they are treated. I mean sometimes the moms will step in, and say something, but by the next episode they're fine. How could a mom let their kid be exposed to that kind of rude behavior that they complain about. For their reputation? The money? A contract with Lifetime? or because they trust Abby with their kids? Also, I wondered why do we watch this? Why do we find kids being yelled at by their dance teacher entertaining? Although, I'm not 100% sure of the answer I believe it's because of the thrill, and anticipation that the arguments give us, and also I believe that we love it, because it gives us something to talk about. I can't tell you how many times I've screamed at the tv, talked about Abby with friends, and my mom, and the show creates a bond fans.

Overall, the seasons seems to be filled with catty drama, and competition like it usually is, and I'm excited to see the show unfold.
