Grey's Anatomy

Recently most of my free time has been spent binge watching the entire Grey’s Anatomy series on Netflix, and trying to watch the maximum of episodes of Grey’s Anatomy that I could fit into one day.  If you have not gotten yourself to watch at least one Grey’s Anatomy episode you are going about life wrong. Grey’s Anatomy is a one hour long show that tells the story of multiple people’s lives who work at the Seattle Grace Hospital in Seattle, Washington narrated by the main character Meredith Grey played by Ellen Pompeo. Although, by my description it sounds like a cheesy soap opera filled with dramatic looks, and fake slaps about twice an episode, but it’s not like that at all.

Grey’s Anatomy is an important show to most of the teen culture where I live, and I began to wonder, why? Of course, many like it for the excitement, and curiosity that the show offers. At least every episode someone’s life is on the line, and there’s an extreme case that you never knew could happen such as a boy getting stuck in tons of concrete, or even a man being pregnant. These extreme cases that happen on the show leave people eager to click on the next episode.

Also, I believe that people watch Grey’s Anatomy or shows like it for another reason. All of the people on the show are relatively normal. They have break up’s, they fail tests, and yes they even drop kidneys on the operating floor. Watching these people who are saving lives daily, and have to be perfect in the operating room, diagnosing the patient, etc mess up although it sounds ude, but it’s kind of comforting.

I think Grey’s Anatomy is a popular show, because it is entertaining, but also because it reminds us that everyone is human even the people we expect to save our lives.

Glee Series Finale

A couple weeks ago on Friday the Glee series finale aired on TV. I have watched the show since season one, and although I lost in touch with it when the original members left I was eager to watch the series finale, and how the show came to an end. For those of you who have yet to see it I’m just warning you there will be spoilers!
Since the episode was two hours long it was split into two parts. The first hour of the episode started off in the past, and went more in depth as to why the members decided to join the Glee Club. Warning Spoiler Alert Ahead: Watching the show I began wondering how they would talk about Finn on the show. For those of you who don’t know Finn was played by Cory Monteith who passed away from a drug overdose. He was a member on the episode, but of course was never shown. Until the end of the first hour episode when Mr. Shoe heard the member singing in the auditorium just when he felt like giving up. Of course they were singing Don’t Stop Believing, and showed the original footage from the first episode, and I would be lying if I said I did not cry, because believe me I cried…a lot.
The second half of the episode took place in the future, and showed you where each member was in their life after high school, and the glee club. It was nice, because it gave the audience closure of what happened, and they wouldn’t be asking so many what ifs.
Watching the series finale made me think about why Glee was such a great show, and it was obvious. The Glee club was such a diverse group, and everyone was accepting of everyone’s differences. There was a kid in a wheelchair… I think that’s why it was popular, because everyone in this world just strives to be accepted whether we want to admit it or not. Watching Glee made us not only feel like it was possible, but we felt accepted by the Glee members for our differences even though they have no idea who we are. No matter if were popular or not, rich or poor, skinny, or overweight we just wanted to accept who we are, and Glee helped make that possible.
Looking back on the first season I’m glad the Glee was a part of my life, and it has honestly helped me accepted myself for who I am, and I’m forever grateful. Moving forward I wish nothing, but the best for the actors, and actresses.
